A somewhat elevated parking lot that is best used for movements on runway 11/29, but primarily arrivals and departures on runway 29, which offers a fantastic backdrop in the form of YYC's Air Traffic Control tower. From here, you can also see arrivals and departures on runway 17R/35L, but not well. This spot also offers a nice view of Apron VII, which is used by FedEx and UPS aircraft, and formerly, Kelowna Flightcraft operating for Purolator.
During the winter, snow is piled up on the medians in the parking lot, allowing for an unobstructed view of runway 11/29.
Coming from Deerfoot Trail (AB-2) northbound, this area can be accessed by taking the Beddington Trail/11 Street NE exit and keeping right. At the three way stop, turn left, and then proceed straight into the parking lot after the two way stop sign intersecting with Aero Drive NE. Coming from Deerfoot Trail (AB-2) southbound, proceed east on 64 Ave NE, turning left at the intersection at 11 St NE, and turning right at the three way stop sign. From there, proceed straight into the parking lot after the two way stop sign intersecting with Aero Drive NE.
No issues have been had at this spot, but be respectful, and don't try to stand on the parking lot power pedestals for a better view. This hasn't happened in my experience, but if Purolator asks you to leave, do so.
